BC’s aviation industry is a significant economic generator that directly contributes to the provincial and national economies – not only in the immediate air transport related sectors, but also other economic industries that support trade, investment, education, and increased productivity. BC’s aviation industry faces challenges around future human resources given ageing population and limited pools of skilled labour. The shortage of aviation and aerospace workers is a competitive disadvantage for Canadian communities and businesses. For the Province of British Columbia that is so dependent on aviation, this development is devastating to many communities.
As part of its strategic directions, the BC Aviation Council (BCAC) is focused on addressing the current human resource needs of BC’s aviation industry. Every community (and industry) is facing similar challenges, and it is important for the province to be proactive in supporting key industries, such as aviation. BCAC intends to engage different levels of government and other stakeholders to increase the awareness and importance of the human resources crisis and seek funding to address the shortages.
BCAC is working with InterVISTAS Consulting on this important initiative. To gain a better understanding of the workforce issues you are currently facing and your future labour requirements, we would like your cooperation in completing this survey.
